Wincanton Farmhouse is a 17th Century Farmhouse set in a quiet Somerset valley, with views across to Alfred’s Tower on the Stourhead estate. The house has been beautifully restored whilst still retaining many of its original features such as the oak beams and wood panelling. In addition to the main house, there is a beautifully decked out, self-contained luxury apartment.

Inside

• Style: Period character with 17th century oak panelling, wood beams and antique furnishings in the main farmhouse; plush country cottage styling in the apartment.
• Bedrooms: Emperor, king sized and standard double beds dressed with Egyptian cotton and soft down duvets; all rooms overlook the gardens or countryside. Double with dressing room, en suite and roll top bath; plus 2 doubles sharing a bathroom in the main farmhouse. Emperor-size en suite in the luxury apartment.
• For relaxation: Relax by the open fire in the sitting room, read one of the many book in the house, or lie in the garden and watch the hens at play
• For recreation: Horse-riding can be arranged, and the area is dotted with public footpaths.
• Practicalities: Meile washing machine and dryer

Outside

Beautifully manicured gardens with apple, plum and pear orchards and a small flock of Jacob’s sheep in the fields. There is also a stable, tackroom and 3-acre field so you are welcome to bring your horse on holiday with you.

• The property is available on a self-catering or fully catered basis
• DIY: A fully equipped country kitchen in the apartment and in the main house; the fridge in the main house comes fully stocked with fresh dairy and breakfast produce.
• In-house cuisine: Cooked breakfast includes freshly baked breads, porridge and muesli, fresh fruit, kippers, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, or blueberry pancakes with the best local and organic produce that can be found. Dinner, made using the finest local ingredients, can be provided by prior arrangement (from £25 per person).
• Eating out: Reservations can be made for you at one of the many nearby country pubs and restaurants. These include Charlton house (with a fabulous day spa too), the top notch Bruton House Restaurant and the award-winning local Montague Inn.
